The design and consultation stage of the partnering process will provide the means by which the community achieves an engagement with the scheme. The use of cellular PVC makes a long-term contribution. The long-life and easy low cost maintenance requirements of these profiles assists in retaining the original appearance long after alternative materials would have shown signs of decay, which can help add to an atmosphere of neglect and social incohesion.

Waste material is recycled and reused again in the profile’s cellular core. Products that have been specified can be expected to perform for at least 30 years without the need for replacement. Material removed from a building after this time can still be recycled and used again to create new cellular PVC products. PVC-UE is used for construction because of a combination of strength and formability, as well as durability and attractiveness. The material is very durable and has an indefinite life span requiring little maintenance. Celuform PVC-UE can be recycled time after time and reused for similar products.

Whole life environmental analysis is required to complete a lifecycle analysis of this type of building component, whether it is timber, metal, or PVC-UE. Celuform carried out partial analysis on these factors in the late 1990s, reviewing the maintenance cycles and installed cost.

To date, a full life cycle analysis is not available as even the earliest example of PVC-UE is still operational. Celuform believe that PVC-UE is the best alternative to timber, composites and metals.
