Torfaen’s refurbishment needs

Celuform Building Products Ltd - 7th February 2008

With sustainable and affordable social housing top of Prime Minister Brown’s agenda, one Partnering arrangement between Torfaen County Borough Council in South Wales, leading cellular product supplier Celuform, contractors Seddons and specialist plastics distributor PBM-DQS Newport sets an encouraging example of how easily and cost effectively this can be achieved.

Tony Crutcher, Sales & Marketing Director of the Celuform brand which supplies the innovative Celutex maintenance free cladding product comments: “We welcome the prominence Brown has given to sustainable and affordable homes, and it’s important that the building and property maintenance sector work together to supply Registered Social Landlords innovation, value for money and resident satisfaction.

“Celuform is especially popular with social housing specifiers because it offers a maintenance free alternative to timber with our market leading Celutex cladding product. Developed under patent in response to growing demand for authentic looking wood effect cladding, the new PVC-UE embossed wood grain finish is indistinguishable from timber. Unlike wood however, it is completely unaffected by damp, rot, decay, frost or insect attack and comes with a 15 year guarantee. Installers tell us it’s a dream to fit too thanks to its availability in single or double plank versions. Landscapes no longer need to “PVC whitewashed”, as Celutex comes in Warm White, Cream, Sand, and Light Green colours.
Gareth Roderick, Celuform’s Regional Contracts Manager adds: “Torfaen is one of the Registered Social Landlords using Celutex to re-clad part of its 600 housing stock. Seddons, the chosen contractor for the first two years of a five year programme is being supplied the product via one of specialist plastic distributor PBM’s seven Welsh branches PBM-DQS Newport. Residents are thrilled with the installations so far, commenting how much difference Celutex has made to the general feel of the estate.”
Robert Seers, Regional Manager from Seddons comments: “Within the building sector, especially for social housing work, sustainability is hugely significant. Seddons reflects this in everything we do nationwide, and working with Celuform allows us to bring the latest in innovative and sustainable techniques to the Torfaen partnering agreement.”
Steve Quick, Planned Maintenance Manager adds: “Like all RSLs, exceeding residents’ satisfaction is top of our agenda. When maintaining or improving homes, we need to consider key criteria across all the products we specify, including aesthetics, thermal performance, maintenance free properties and their contribution to the general feel of the environment. I’m delighted to say Celutex has helped us achieve all of these.”
